Carlton Smith

University of Wolverhampton

Carlton_SmithThe idea for this piece developed from looking at the consequences of investment, with my final conclusion being growth. From there I considered metaphors that would illustrate this idea the best and found that investment is quite similar to photosynthesis.

In this case instead of the sun being the catalyst, rain would take the role of the provider. With businesses and athletes represented by the flower. I then thought that neck ties not only represent businesses but would work well to form the petals. As for athletes I used the colours from the Olympic flag to illustrate pollen. As the Olympic pollen falls the rain helps new businesses to grow, starting the cycle that comes from investment.
